DTS Adds Microsoft Spatial Sound Support
Calabasas-based DTS, the developer of surround sound and audio processing technology--which is now part of Xperi Corporation--has launched a new product that supports Microsoft Spatial sound. According to DTS, its new product, DTS Sound Unbound supports Microsoft Spatial sound through its DTS Headphone:X and DTS:X products. The company said the lik will help enhance immersive gaming. The DTS app works with Microsoft 3D audio, allowing gamers to hear full panoramic sound in their games. DTS appears to be charging $20 on the Microsoft Store to enable its surround sound, although it does provide a free trial of the enhanced audio. The company's technology uses sound shaping to make sounds appear to be above, below, or close to the gamer.
