EDF Renewable Energy Buys Solar Projects From First Solar
San Diego-based renewable energy developer EDF Renewable Energy said late Thursday that it has acquired a total of 179 megawatts of solar projects from First Solar, located in Nevada. According to EDF RE, the Switch Station 1 and Switch Station 2 Solar Projects, currently under construction, will supply power to NV Energy under three Power Purchase Agreements. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. The two said the two projects will generate enough capacity to meet the power consumption of approximately 46,000 Nevada homes, and will help avoid emissions of 265,000 metric tons of CO2, or approximately the greenhouse gas emissions of 52,000 passengers vehicles driven over one year.
