Entropic Raises $25M
San Diego-based Entropic Communications has raised $25M in a Series C round of venture funding. The firm said that the new round will go toward accelerating adoption of its home networking entertainment chipset. Funding came from Focus Ventures, which led the round, with participation by previous investors Anthem Venture Partners, Cisco, CMEA Ventures, Comcast Interactive Capital, Dow Employees' Pension Plan, EchoStar, Intel, Mission Ventures, Motorola, Panasonic, Redpoint Ventures, Time Warner and YAS Broadband Ventures. The investment brings the total raised by Entropic to $78M. Entropic's chipset is used to network HDTV, digital video recorders, set top boxes, gateways, and media PCs using coax cabling.
