Esri Expands Map Data
Redlands-based GIS software maker Esri announced a deal Monday to expand the amount of aerial imagery available for the firm's ArcGIS software, via a deal with satellite imagery firm DigitalGlobe. Esri said the deal adds more than 10 million square kilometers of high resolution, aerial viewing to its free ArcGIS World IMagery map service. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Esri's software is very widely used for geographical information systems (GIS), and in overlaying data and information on top of maps.
