Esri, Waze Partner On Traffic Data
Redlands-based mapping software developer Esri, and traffic and navigation app developer Waze--which is owned by Google--said on Wednesday that they are in a new partnership to allow government municipalities to access Waze's traffic data. The two said the partnership will allow governments using Esri's ArcGIS platform to access free, traffic information through the Waze Connected Citizens Program. The two-way system also lets governments share road closure alerts and other information through the Waze app, and incorporate its data into enterprise systems, such as emergency dispatch and street maintenance systems. Financial details of the partnership between Esri and Waze were not announced. Waze says that more than 65 million users are using its apps.
