FreedomPop Aims At Small Business Market
Los Angeles-based FreedomPop is taking aim at the small business market today, with its free phone service, saying it will offer up small businesses unlimited talk and text, plus a limited amount of data, for up to two users--all for free. The company, which until the move was focused primarily on consumers, said it is looking to serve low data usage businesses with its new business free phone service. The basic service provides up to 2GB of shared data between two users, with additional data costing $10 per gigabyte. FreedomPop says the average small business phone service customer only uses approximately 600MB of data each month. FreedomPop offers up free, wireless service, with a selection of upgraded data plans for larger data users. In a related move, FreedomPop said it will also offer up a specific Internet-of-Things (IoT) plan which will connect devices to its wireless network at $1 per month. FreedomPop is venture backed by Mangrove Capital, DCM, Partech Ventures, and Atomico.
