GeoLinks Wins $87.8M Contract Award For Rural Internet Rollout

Camarillo-based wireless Internet services provider GeoLinks has scored a big, $87.8M contract, to provide rural, Internet services across more than 11,000 locations in California and Nevada, the company announced this morning. According to GeoLinks, the contract award came from the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), which manages the broadband connectivity fund collected from telephone bills. GeoLinks said the awards came from the Connect America Fund Phase II (CAF II), which was announced by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in August of 2018. GeoLinks said it will officially begin its broadband deployment this summer. GeoLinks said it is also pursuing the FCC's LIFT America Act, an effort which will fund another $40 billion worth of broadband infrastructure deployment. GeoLinks provides its Internet connectivity through wireless links, placed on high locations (mountain tops and towers) throughout its service area.
