GM Shuts Down Maven Car Sharing Service
General Motors has shut down its Maven car sharing service, including its services in Los Angeles, as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has put the final nails in the coffin for the service. The car sharing service--which already had been struggling prior to the pandemic outbreak--had paused its business last month nationwide. Maven had previously set up a partnership with the City of Los Angeles to encourage EV sharing. The company told its users today that it made a "tough but necessary decision to wind down our business," attributing the move to the COVID-19 pandemic. Maven had already cut a number of cities in May of 2019.
