Helixis Scores $10M
Carlsbad-based Helixis announced Wednesday that the company has raised $10M in a Series A investment, and launched operations. Funding came from Domain Associates and Okapi Venture Capital. Helixis is developing low-cost, molecular diagnostic products which potentially can be used for biomedical research, personalized medicine, pandemic screening, and biosecurity. The firm is based on technology developed at the California Institute of Technology. Helixis is led by Alex Dickinson, former CEO of Luxtera, and founders of the company include Caltech Professors David Baltimore, and Axel Scherer. Professor Baltimore was recipient of the 1975 Nobel Prize in Medicine. More information »
