HeyTutor Finds $1M From ScOp Venture Capital
Los Angeles-based HeyTutor, an online marketplace for finding tutors, has raised $1M in its Series A funding, the company announced on Tuesday, from Santa Barbara-based ScOp Venture Capital, the venture investment firm led by serial entrepreneur and investor Kevin O'Connor. HeyTutor was founded by Skyler Lucci and Ryan Neman four years ago, when both of them were both just 19 years old. HeyTutor's online marketplace helps connect students with local tutors, and helps tutors get consistent jobs. Lucci serves as CEO of the company, and Neman is President. According to HeyTutor, its service lets tutors pick and choose exactly what jobs they are interested in, negotiate a set hourly rate, and manages all billing and payments. The service says it already is in 100 cities around the country. ScOp Venture Capital was previously known as O'Connor Ventures. O'Connor was the founder of DoubleClick, and he's also backed a number of other local ventures, including serving as an early investor in Procore, a local unicorn. More information »
