Hulu Launches Ad-Free Streaming Service For $11.99 A Month
Los Angeles-based streaming television service Hulu said this morning that it has launched a new, ad-free service, which will cost $4 a month more than the company's existing, premium subscription. The $11.99 per month service is the first time Hulu has offered up viewing of the company's streaming content without advertising. Hulu's normal service costs $7.99 a month. Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins said the move is an effort to provide "the best possible experience" to its customers. Those customers have long complained of the frequent interruption of Hulu's service--particularly Hulu's premium service--by advertisements. Hulu said that--as part of the launch of its ad-free service--it would also be limiting the number of commercials presented to its lower tier, $7.99 a month premium service.
