Impossible Burgers Roll Out To Grocery Stores In Southern California
Impossible Foods, one of the makers of plant-based burgers, will make its plant burgers available for the first time in grocery stores, in Southern California, the company said on Thursday morning. According to Impossible Foods, its plant-based burgers will be available at Gelsons markets on Friday, September 20th. The plant-based burger company says it eventually expects to roll out the burgers to other grocery store chains in California, and elsewhere in the nation. Competitor Beyond Meat--which is based locally in El Segundo--already has been selling its burgers at groery stores. The move for Impossible Burger's products in stores comes as a reult of an FDA approval of the company's major ingredient in August. The company uses soy leghemoglobin, a plant-based molecule which resembles hemoglobin the element of animal blood which gives meat its flavor and aroma.
