Iris.tv Raises $5.3M For Video Recommendation APIs
Los Angeles-based Iris.tv has raised $5.3M in a Series A funding, the startup disclosed Wednesday, for its development of a personalized video recommendation API and software toolkit. The funding came from Sierra Wasatch, BDMI, Progress Ventures, Allen DeBevoise (Mahinima), James Barge (Lions Gate), and others. The startup, led by Field Garthwaite, offers up its technology to video publishers, such as online entertainment, news, and sports sites, to better personalize the videos presented to viewers, and to gather analytics about those viewers.
