LA Times, SD Union Tribune, Other Newspapers Disrupted By Malware Attack
The print editions of the Los Angeles Times, the San Diego Union Tribune, as well as the Wall Street Journal and New York Times were hit by malware attack over the weekend, which disrupted printing and delivery of those papers in California. The attack--which started on Thursday and continued through the weekend--was finally halted on Sunday, according to the LA Times. The Times cited a source in saying the attack may have originated overseas, but few details have yet emerged on the attackers or motivations behind the attack. The attack also delayed printing and delivery of other local papers, and extended to Tribune Publishing and such papers as the Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun and South Florida Sun Sentinel elsewhere in the country.
