Lakers Training Facility Goes Solar
The training facility for the Los Angeles Lakers, the UCLA Health Training Center, has just gone solar, according to an anouncement from The Los Angeles Lakers, LG Electronics USA and Vaha Energy. According to the three, they just installed a system with 456 LG panels, which it says will installed an estimated 245,000 kWh annually to power the center. The 171kW system powers the 120,000 square-foot LEED Platinum facility, used by both the Lakers' training facility and the home court of the South Bay Lakers. The adoption of solar power and large panel install is not unusual at all for Los Angeles, which has has the most solar power installed of any city in the United States. California also recently passed a law mandating solar power be installed on all new houses when they are built.
