Life Technologies Invests in Synthentic Genomics

Carlsbad-based Life Technologies said Wednesday that it has made an equity investment in Synthetic Genomics, a firm commercializing synthetic genomic advances. Terms of the investment were not announced. Synthetic Genomics develops technology for assembling synthetic genomes and DNA. Life Technologies said SGI is applying its technology to bienergy, food production, clean water, and vaccine development.
