Loopd Goes Live, Targets Sports Communities
San Diego-baed Loop'd Network, a new startup targeting the social networking area around online sports, said today that it has launched its service. The firm said it has signed on Monster Energy, Oakley, Pacific Sunwear, and Surfer Magazine's Hot 100 as customers, which will use the firm's Web 2.0 platform for creating their own online communities. Loop'd allows brands to create their own social networking communities to allow athletes and fans to interact. Financial terms of the brand deals were not announced. Loop'd said that it is an expansion of SponsorHouse.com, an online service that helps athletes connect with sponsors. Among features on the Loop'd Network sites are posting of user generated videos, photos, and blog postings.
