Lynda.com Buys European Video Training Firm
lynda.com, the online learning and video instruction site based in Carpinteria, is putting some of its new funding to work, saying this morning that it has acquired video2brain, GmbH, a European online video training company, to help expand its services worldwide. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. According to the company, video2brain provides German-, French-, Spanish- and English-language courses covering many of the same categories as lynda.com. lynda.com said that video2brain has over 400,000 subscribers. The acquisition comes less than a month after a huge, $103M funding round for lynda.com, the first institutional capital into the company.
The acquisition is the first for lynda.com, which recently crossed the $100M in annual revenues mark, based on its online video instruction videos for a wide range of software. The firm's service offers up instructional videos on everything from Adobe Photoshop to Microsoft Excel, and many other popular software products. lynda.com's big investment round, announced last month, came from Accel Partners and Spectrum Equity.
