Microsoft Buy Of Activision Blizzard Temporarily Blocked

The attempted acquisition of Santa Monica-based Activision Blizzard has been temporarily blocked by a judge, according to reports. The order, by a US federal judge, is a result of a request for a preliminary injunction by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Microsoft has offered up $68.7 billion for Activision Blizzard, but has been slowly making its way through a number of regulatory hurdles to complete the deal. The FTC claims, if the deal goes through, the deal would "substantially lessen competition — including competition on product quality, price, and innovation."
