NewEgg Deal Glitches Google Offers
A promotional deal by City of Industry-based NewEgg briefly crippled Google Offers this morning, after Google offered $40 to spend at NewEgg for only $20. The offer--which rapidly sold out this morning--apparently caused lots of issues for prospective buyers, according to widespread Twitter messages. Southern California-based NewEgg is an over $2 billion in sales retailer of computer products, consumer electronics, and other merchandise. The offer looks to have sold out in less than an hour. Los Angeles-based website monitoring service Catchpoint reported that both Google and NewEgg saw issues, with Google having issues for about 30 minutes, and NewEgg seeing slowdown and unresponsiveness starting at 12:00 PM EDT, with problems continuing past 1:40 PM EDT.
