Newegg Sues Kohl's Over Trademark
City of Industry-based Newegg, a major online electronics and computer retailer, said today that it has sued retailer Kohl's Corporation for trademark infringement and unfair competition. Newegg said that its lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, alleges that Kohl's use of the slogan "The More You Know, The More You Kohl's" is a misappropriation of Newegg's own slogan "One You Know, You NewEgg." According to Newegg, it is seeking injunctive relief, as well as monetary damages for lost revenue, corrective advertising, and damage to its trademark.
