Nirvanix Releases Hybrid Cloud Storage Service
San Diego-based Nirvanix said today that it has launched a "hybrid" cloud storage service brings cloud storage to companies within their own data center. According to Nirvanix, the new service is specifically targeted at companies who have stringent corporate and legal data retention policies, who want to take advantage of cloud storage but cannot transfer that data outside their facilities. The firm said its new hNode solution provides secure, cloud storage within an enterprise, based on Nirvanix technology, including all networking hardware, software and storage for creating an on-premise cloud. Nirvanix said the product supports a minimum of 200TB and is scalable to petabytes, and includes monitoring, managing, and maintenance of the solution by Nirvanix staff. Pricing on the new offering was not disclosed. Nirvanix is looking to take advantage of the interest in cloud storage and its flexibility by firms who are otherwise limited by corporate policies.
