Novatel Wireless Gets Smart Grid Customer
San Diego-based Novatel Wireless, the developer of wireless modems and modules, said Monday afternoon that its 3G embedded modules will be used in a smart energy grid deployment. Novatel said its modules are being used in the Consert Virtual Peak Plant (VPP) product, which is being used by electric utilities for smart grid load management. Novatel's modules are used to provide 3G mobile data communications for managing high energy consuming appliances in residential and small commercial applications.
