Outpost Lands $7.1M For Reusable Satellites
Santa Monica-based Outpost, a developer of what it says are "reusable" satellites, has raised $7.1M in a seed funding. According to the company, the funding came from Moonshots Capital, with participation from Draper Associates, Starlight Ventures, Kittyhawk Ventures, AIR Capital, Starburst Ventures, Shasta Ventures and others. Outpost said it is developing a reusable satellite service, which will allow customers to deliver payloads to space, but which can be delivered back to earth using a precision landing system. Jason Dunn is CEO and co-founder at Outpost and previously founder at Made In Space, and Michael Vergalla is CTO and co-founder at Outpost. the company said the new funds will go towards technology development and to build their team. Craig Cummings at Moonshots will serve as a board member at Outpost as part of the funding.
