Pasadena's ArtCenter College Of Design, 3D Avatar Site IMVU Team
The ArtCenter College of Design, based in Pasadena, and social networking and 3D avatar site IMVU announced on Tuesday that the two have launched a new "studio partnership", which will let students in a course design their own, 3D experience in the IMVU world. According to the two, students in an "Online Avatars & Digital Landscapes" course will help address "business challenges associated with motivating communication in a mixed-reality world." The two said that the 14-week course will allow students to propose interactive experiences to help the IMVU community, through a series of research assignments, investigative field trips, and workshops. The collaboration also includes an ability for students to test and iterate their design in real-time within IMVU's live platform. IMVU's immersive community allows users to create their own characters, navigate through user-created spaces, make new friends, and also buy and sell virtual goods.
