Pay Up For VCs
It's good to be a VC this year, according to a new analysis by Dow Jones, in a new study which shows that the total take home pay for venture capitalists averaged $816,000 this year, a 45% increase over total compensation last year. The study, the Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst-Holt Compensation Study, found that the increase was the biggest year-to-year increase since the study began in 2002. According to Dow Jones, base salaries for U.S.-based professionals rose 13% to 305,000, and bonuses brought the annual average up to $505,000. Managing partners, senior partners, and partners had a total compensation of $1.63M, including carried interest. At that level, base salaries increased $13.6% to $551,000, and including bonuses was up 11.6% to $919,000.
