Procore Joins Philanthropy Movement
Carpinteria-based cloud software developer Procore Technologies, which develops cloud- and mobile- software for the construction industry--and is one of Southern California's multi-billion valuation unicorn startups--says it has joined Pledge 1%, a philanthropic group which challenges technology companies to pledge 1 percent of their equity, product, and employee time for their communities. Procore appears to be one of the first Southern California companies to join the movement, which originated in Silicon Valley with such companies at Atlassian, Rally, Salesforce, and Tides. Procore said its efforts will include providing Procore's software, implementation, and support free of charge to nonprofit and educational organizations; and having Procore's employees spend one percent of their annual working hours participating in volunteer opportunities that positively impact the communities where employees live and work. Procore said it already has been active donating its products to nonprofits, including the Habitat for Humanity; Pledge 1% says it has over 8,500 companies who have committed to its philanthropic effort.
