QLogic Ships Adapters, Gets FCOE Design Wins
Aliso Viejo-based storage hardware manufacturer QLogic reports this morning that it has scored "multiple tier one" OEM design wins on its new, Fibre Channel over Ethernet network adapters. Names of those OEMs were not disclosed, nor was financial impact of the design wins. QLogic said its new QLogic 8100 series of PCI-Express adapters are based on a single-chip, and are available today. Fibre Channel Over Ethernet (FCOE) is a storage standard which takes the Fibre Channel storage protocol and allows it to be sent over standard Ethernet networks. QLogic's new card is used for storage area networking applications.
