Qualcomm Buys Airgo, RFMD'S Bluetooth Business
San Diego-based Qualcomm said this morning that it has made two acquisitions in the wireless space, acquiring Palo Alto-based Airgo, and the majority of RF Micro Devices' Bluetooth assets. Financial terms were not disclosed. Airgo is a provider of WLAN products, including WLAN technology for access points and laptop computers. Qualcomm said that it will incorporate Airgo's 802.11a/b/g and 802.11n technology into its Mobile Station Modem chipsets. In a second transaction, Qualcomm said it is acquiring the majority of RF Micro Devices' Bluetooth assets, specifically the firm's San Diego-based assets. Qualcomm said it will also incorporate RF Micro's Bluetooth technology into its MSM chipsets.
