Qualcomm Looks To Block Nokia Handsets
San Diego-based Qualcomm is reporting that the United States International Trade Commission has commenced an investigation into unfair trade practices by competitor Nokia, as part of a complaint filed by Qualcomm with the ITC. Qualcomm is looking to block the import of Nokia handsets and other products, saying that those products infringe upon its patents. The ITC investigation is the latest salvo in a continued patent war between Qualcomm and Nokia, and joins an existing patent lawsuit filed in November by Qualcomm. In that lawsuit, Qualcomm alleges that Nokia infringed on 11 of its patents covering GSM, GPRS, and EDGE cellular stndards.
