Quest Acquires Vintela
Irvine-based Quest Software has acquired Vintela, a Utah-based developer of heterogoenous identity management software for Microsoft Active Directory. Quest said that it expects to pay $56.5M in cash for Vintela and assumption of options. Vintela provides software for extending Microsoft's Active Directory enterprise identity management software to Unix, Linux, Mac, and Java-based systems. Vintela's softwre also supports Microsoft's Systems Management Server (SMS), Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM), .NET, and Services for Unix (SFU). Users of the Vintela software use their tools to manage heterogeneous systems using Microsoft tools, reducing the need for separate management of usernames and logins and other information for those usually incompatible systems.
