Quibi Sues Eko
Los Angeles-based short-form streaming media startup Quibi, founded by Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman, has sued a competitor--Interlude US Inc, which runs the interactive multimedia entertainment service Eko, saying that it has "embarked on a campaign of threats and harassment to coerce money or a licensing deal from Quibi". Apparently, Eko has accused Quibi of infringing on a patent. The legal move comes ahead of any formal patent infringement lawsuit from Interlude US Inc. Quibi is asking the court to declare that it has not infringed upon Eko's patent. Quibi recently raised $350M to launch its short form media service, which is not yet open to the public.
