RealD Adds Australian Theatres
Los Angeles-based RealD, a provider of 3D projection technology for the movie business, has signed on two Australian theater companies, the firm said this morning. RealD said that it has agreements with Amalgamated Holdings, which runs the Event Cinemas, Greater Union, and Birch Carroll & Coyle chains in Australia; and Village Cinemas, which also runs a theatre chain in Australia. The deal covers 139 screens in that country. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. RealD said it has begun installations with completion expected by the end of the year.
