RealD Rolls Out 3D Product
Los Angeles-based RealD, which develops 3D projection systems for the theater market, said today that it has shipped a new product used for 3D stereo displays on monitors. RealD said that its new product, a 3D stereoscopic converter POD, detects the presence of stereoscopic display monitors and converts stereo-enables software applications to the correct format. The product comes out of the firm's 3D visualization arm, which provides 3D tools to research and development and other applications. The firm said the product targets industries such as defense, entertainment, oil and gas, education, design and development, and medical, all of which are heavily using 3D visualization technology.
