Regeneration.VC Raises $45M Climate Fund, Backed By Leonardo DiCaprio
A new, Los Angeles-based Regeneration.VC said on Monday that it has raised $45M in its inagural fund, which will focus on climate investments, backed by celebrity investor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio. The fund said it will invest in three areas: design (packaging and materials), use (products and brands), and reuse (reverse logistics and marketplaces) related to circular and regenerative materials. The fund's General Partners are Michael Smith and Dan Fischman. Leonardo DiCaprio is the new fund's Strategic Advisor and a Limited Partner. Fishman previously was involved in brands House of Harlow with Nicole Richie, L'Agence, and Coolhaus, and Smith toured as a DJ and also previously ran a firm called Ponvalley, which the firm said was a climate-focused family office. Regeneration.VC says its advisor board includes Bonobos founder Andy Dunn, Ret. Gen. Wesley Clark, recent Mars Chairman Stephen Badger, and UN Environmental Ambassador Petra Nemcova, among others.
