Report: Uber Considering Deal to Buy Either Bird or Lime
Ridesharing giant Uber is considering a major deal to buy either Santa Monica-based on-demand scooter rental service Bird, or possibly, Bird's key rival, Lime, according to a report. According to The Information, Uber has been holding talks with both Bird and Lime about acquiring one of the companies in what would be a multi-billion dollar deal. The report says that Uber has not yet made a decision of which, if any, company to buy, in order to help it expand its own, recently launched scooter rental service. Bird is valued at more than $2 billion after its last funding round, which came from such investors as Sequoia Capital, Accel, B Capital, CRV, Sound Ventures, Greycroft and e.ventures.
