Respawn Entertainment Launches New Game Studio
Jason West and Vince Zampella, the developer of video game Call of Duty and co-founder ofs Infinity Ward, have set up shop as Respawn Entertainment, and inked a deal with Electronic Arts to distribute its games. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. West and Zampella--who are in the midst of a nasty legal fight with former employer Activision--did not disclose what titles it might be working on, but said that it is now hiring a team of designers, artists, and engineers for the new venture. West and Zampella were uncermoniously dumped by Activision in March, after Activision claimed thet wo had breached their contact and for "insubordination." West, Zampella, and Activision are now trading lawsuits over the firing of the two. Respawn said that EA will be the exclusive worldwide publisher and distributor of its future game, in a deal brokered by the Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
