Riot Games Creates College, High School Sports Body
Los Angeles-based videogame publisher Riot Games has created a brand new organization to govern college esports, called the Riot Scholastic Association of America (RSAA). According to Riot Games, the new organization will be the governing body for Riot's college and high school esports activity. Riot said the new organization will have a board of advisors that includes Mark Deppe, the Director of Esports, University of California, Irvine and Commissioner, NASEF; A.J. Dimick the Director of Esports Operations, University of Utah; Erin Harvego, Vice President of Marketing, Big Ten Network; Carolayne Henr, Senior Associate Commissioner, Governance & Legal Affairs/SWA of the Mountain West Conference; Kurt Melcher, Executive Director of Esports, Robert Morris University and Executive Director of Esports, Intersport; and T.L.Taylor, Director of Research, AnyKey.org and a Professor at MIT. Riot said the RSAA will provide the company with helping it with scaling competitive operations, creating a more inclusive student community, and aligning with the goals of schools.
