Rover.com Challenges DogVacay In Home Territory
Los Angeles-based pet sitting marketplace DogVacay is being directly challenged by competitor Rover.com today in Los Angeles, as Rover.com said it has scored some funding from A-GRade investment, the Los Angeles investment fund run by Ashton Kutcher, Guy Oseary and Ron Burkle, and also launched a "red carpet" service for pet owners specifically in LA. According to Rover.com, its new service, Rover Premier, will offer up a consultant who will search for, find, and book a pet sitter for them. Size of the investment was not disclosed. Both DogVacay and Rover are competing to see who is the "big dog" in offering up a marketplace for dog sitters online. Rover.com said that LA is one of the firm's fastest growing major markets. Rover is based in Seattle.
