SCE Plans EV Charger Rebates, Big EV Charger Install Push
Southern California Edison is planning a big electric vehicle charging station push here in Southern California, saying it plans to install as many as 1,500 new electric vehicle charging stations in its service territory, and offer up rebates to users who install them. SCE said it is spending $22M to install stations at workplaces, campuses, recreational areas, and apartment and condominium complexes as part of the effort, which will provide rebates of between 25 and 100 percent of the cost of those EV stations to the owners. SCE said the initial program is a pilot, and that it plans to ask the California Public Utilities Commission to expand the program to around 30,000 charging stations, at a cost of $355M after the pilot.
