SDG&E Approves Three New Energy Storage Facilities

Public utility provider San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) says it has gained approval to build three new, energy storage facilities, with enough capacity to meet the energy eneds of more than 100,000 homes for four hours. The company said the new facilities have a total capacity of 161MW/644MWh, and will be used to provide the state with greater capacity to meet high energy demand on summer days and at night after solar power dissipates. SDG&E said the new projects will be connected to the state's grid to balance demand supply on the grid statewide. Utilities like SDG&E and others have been being pushed by the state of California to bolster their energy storage capacity, as California looks to shift to 100% clean power.
