Semtech Sees First Low Power Networking Chip Deployment
Camarillo-based Semtech said today that it has seen its first deployment of its low power, wide area networking chipsets in North America, via network-as-a-service provider Senet. According to Semtech, Senet has deployed 50 towers with a network coverage of more than 15,000 square miles, using Semtech's LoRa technology, for an Internet-of-Things application. Semtech's technology is initially being used by a utility delivering propane and heating fuel. The two said the network is now also being aimed at other, Internet-of-Things verticals, such as agriculture, smart parking, building management, supply chain management, water metering, water leak detection, industrial asset tracking and healthcare.
