Silicon Beach Software, Led By Software Legend, Rolls Out First Software Title
San Diego-based Silicon Beach Software--a newly revived software company headed by longtime software legend Charlie Jackson--announced its first title on Friday, a vector drawing software called SaviDraw. The software is the first title for the new company, which was founded in 2015 by Charlie Jackson, whose claim to fame was founding the original Silicon Beach Software in 1984, one of the very first develops of third party software for the Apple Macintosh. Among the most famous titles developed by the original Silicon Beach Software was Dark Castle, a videogame which was the first to take advantage of the huge advances in graphics capability of the Macintosh. The original, Silicon Beach Software was acquired by Aldus Corporation in 1990, and Jackson went on to found a number of other companies including FutureWave Software, which developed FutureSplash Animator, which became Adobe's Flash. When he was active as a seed investor, Jackson helped make the seed investment in Wired Magazine, alongside Nicholas Negroponte. According to Silicon Beach Software, its new software is a 2D, vector drawing application for Windows 10, which uses touch, mouse, and voice input.
