Sirigen Acquired By Becton, Dickinson
Sirigen, a developer of fluorescent biomarkers used in flow cytometry, and which was started at the University of California, Santa Barbara, has been acquired by Becton, Dickinson and Co.. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Sirigen was venture backed by Great Pacific Capital, Seraphim Capital, and Oxford Capital Partners. Sirigen is now based in the United Kingdom, and also has operations in San Diego. The firm was founded at UCSB, by Professor Guillermo C. Bazan, Dr. Brent S. Gaylord, and Mr. Patrick J. Dietzen, after placing first prize in a business plan competition at the UCSB New Venture Competition. More information »
