Smith Micro, VMware Team On Mac Software
Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software said today that it has signed a deal with virtualization software firm VMware, to offer VMware's Fusion product for Mac users. Smith Micro will distribute VMware's software, which allows Macintosh users to run Windows software on a Macintosh, through its web site and retail channels. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Vmware's desktop virtualization product for the Mac allows users to run Windows Vista and Windows XP, Linux, Solaris, and other x86 operating systems on a Mac. Smith Micro said that the package will retail for $79.99. Smith Micro is a publisher of communications, data compression, and other utility software.
