Southern California Gas Invests In Fuel Cell Energy Firm
Southern California Gas Company the unit of Sempra Energy which supplies natural gas to Southern California, has backed the manufacturer of natural gas, fuel cell equipment. According to ClearEdge Power, it has raised $73.5M in a Series E financing round, which included Southern California Gas Company, and was led by Artis Capital Management. Other investors include Gussing Renewable Energy and Kohlberg Ventures. ClearEdge Power is the maker of fuel cell equipment, which converts natural gas into both electricity and heat. ClearEdge said the funding will go to grow adoption in key commercial markets, for international expansion, and for development and commercialization of new products. ClearEdge is based in Oregon.
