SpaceX: Rocket Has Hard Landing, Will Try Again
Hawthorne-based SpaceX reported over the weekend that it again was unable to land the first stage of the Falcon 9 on its floating barge, and will try again on the next launch. SpaceX--which has been attempting to land the Falcon 9 on its barge for future reuse and recovery--had previously landed the first stage of its rocket on land. The landing attempt came after a successful launch of a communications satellite, the SES-9, into geosynchronous orbit. SpaceX's Elon Musk tweeted that the rocket had a "hard landing" on the droneship , and that he "did not expect" this landing to work, saying the company would try again next time.
