SpaceX Signs Deal To Deliver Private Citizens To International Space Station
Hawthorne-based SpaceX has inked a deal with Houston-based Axiom Space, to deliver private crews to the International Space Station, Axiom said on Thursday. According to Axiom Space, it has signed a contract with SpaceX to transport a professional commander and three private astronauts to and from the International Space Station, as soon as the second half of 2021. Axiom said that the mission will allow the crew to live aboard the ISS for at least eight days. Axiom did not say how much the mission will cost for individuals. Axiom says it has an agreement with NASA, which proposes to ultimately attach new space station modules to the ISS, expanding the usable and habitable volume of the ISS in the "Axiom Segment". Ultimately, Axiom said its complex "will detach and operate as a free-flying commercial space station."
