Staccato Gets Wireless Certification
San Diego-based Staccato Communications, a developer of ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless chips, has scored a certification for its products. According to the firm, its Ripcord2 single-chip UWB products have received the official WiMedia PHY certification. WiMedia is a new standard targeted at high speed, wireless multimedia communications, specifically in the areas of PCs, consumer electronics, and mobile applications. Staccato's chips are aimed at high volume consumer applications. The firm's chipsets also support Wireless USB and Bluetooth.
