Stratolaunch Sends World's Largest Plane Barreling Down Runway In Mojave
Stratolaunch, the aerospace startup funded by Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen, has sent the world's largest plane down a runway in Mojave, as it gets closer to flight tests. According to Stratolaunch, its taxi tests--which had its plane reach a top speed of 40 knots (45 mph)--are a preview to flight tests for later this year. Stratolaunch is developing the enormous plane as a platform to launch satellites and other payloads into space. The test were conducted on Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25 just outside of Los Angeles, in Mojave. Stratolaunch's plane has a wingspan of 385 feet, the longest in the world.
